Updating from versions 8.x, 2005, or 2006 to v14.1

I'm currently running a version of WhatsUp older than version 11.  Can I upgrade to version 14.1 and keep my data?

Yes you can.  There are different upgrade paths depending on which version of WhatsUp Gold or WhatsUp Professional you are currently running.  Also, we recommend you verify your installation of WhatsUp Gold or WhatsUp Professional is working properly before upgrading.  These versions of WhatsUp are no longer supported.

If you are running WhatsUp Gold Classic (version 8.0x or prior):

1) Install an evaluation edition of WhatsUp Gold Premium version 11.0.3 from the following URL: http://www.whatsupgold.com/support/patch-upgrades/wug1103.aspx
2) Import your WhatsUp Gold Classic data using the WhatsUp Gold v7/v8 Data Migration utility available from the Tools menu.
3) Download WhatsUp Gold v14.1 from your myIpswitch account: http://www.myipswitch.com
4) Upgrade version 11.0.3 to version 14.1.  Be sure to make a backup of your v11.0.3 database when prompted during upgrade.
5) Verify your installation of WhatsUp Gold v14.1 is working properly and your device, monitoring, and action configuration matches your WhatsUp Gold Classic installation.
6) Uninstall or disable your installation of WhatsUp Gold Classic.  The migration of your data to WhatsUp Gold v11.0.3 or later versions will not change your installation of WhatsUp Gold Classic; it should be removed or disabled manually.

If you are running WhatsUp Professional 2005 or WhatsUp Professional 2006:

1) Download an evaluation edition of WhatsUp Gold Premium version 12.0 from our FTP Server using the following URL: WhatsUp Gold version 12.0
2) Upgrade your installation of WhatsUp Professional to WhatsUp Gold v12.0.  Be sure to make a backup of your WhatsUp database when prompted during upgrade.  It is not necessary to activate the installation of WhatsUp Gold v12.0.  If you are running a non-standard database configuration; upgrade your database schema to version 12.0.  Read and follow the database upgrade process carefully; it has changed since earlier versions.  You can view the v12.0 release notes here: http://www.ipswitch.com/wug120relnotes
3) Download WhatsUp Gold v14.1 from your myIpswitch account: http://www.myipswitch.com
4) Upgrade to v14.1.  Be sure to make a backup of your v12.0 database when prompted.  Do not overwrite the backup of your WhatsUp Professional database.
